NOW ONLINE: The Webzine Wiki WEBZINE is a real world, face-to-face celebration of independent publishing on the Internet. It's part panel discussions and speakers, part workshops and much freeform collaboration, schmoozing and after-party boozing. The panel discussions aim to inspire, the workshops are hands-on forums of learning and the Master's Lounge is the unstructured place to share knowledge, ideas and URLs. DIY to its core, Webzine is rooted in zine culture and the love of making our own media. INSPIRE: Panel Discussions & SpeakersTwo days of panel discussions and presentations from speakers covering a micro gamut of the independent publishing landscape. Hear from people who are turning mainstream media on it's head through self-reporting, culture jamming, citizen journalism, experimenting with new forms of audio and video broadcasting and of course, sticking it to the Man. LEARN: WorkshopsInspiration becomes creation when you make the tools and tricks work for you. Learn from leaders and creators of open source publishing tools, podcasts and video blogs. Step it up a notch by learning how to tailor your message, perfect your content with proper internet architecture and this new thing called microformats. SHARE: Master's LoungeWe would be lying to you horribly if we tried to tell you that we've covered everything and everyone there is to know in the world of independent online publishing. The Lounge is a place where you can share your ideas, project, URL or whatever you happen to be working on with fellow allies and future friends. This area will be an open, self-selecting and self-scheduled space equipped with a digital projector and a round table. Gather 'round and exchange knowledge and contact info. Webzine 2005 is AccessibleOnline tickets for Webzine 2005 went for an amazingly low price of $22 for the whole shebang. Day passes were $13 in advance. That's less than 1% the cost of some other well known annual conferences, all without the guilt, grime or starch. Webzine 2005

Bay Blogger Thursday: WebZine 2005!
Here at SFist HQ, we were excited when we heard that Friend of SFist Eddie was going to go ahead with his plan (first rumored at SXSW) to give WebZine a kick start. In the last few months we’ve gotten drunk at many meetings, put together a panel, tra…

Great! It would really help to have a rough schedule of the speakers/panels, so those of us planning to only go for one day would know which day to buy tickets for. And also so those who are planning on going to the big huge anti-war rally (also in San Francisco on Sept. 24th, *ahem*) will know what we’re missing.

Dear Eddie: I hate buying tickets over the internets, especially because they usually charge you some ridiculous fee (10% of the $20 Weekend Pass in the case of Webzine). Can I just give you some cash instead? I’m a total Annalee Newitz fan and of course I love drinking beer with interesting people.
With affection,

Mortaine- Agreed. We’re working to get the schedule locked in. There is a lot of juggling to do and we want to make sure we can everyone placed on days they’ll be in town. Several people involved in the event are planning on attending the anti-war rally on Saturday. Expect the vlogging panel and workshop to be on Sunday.
sfmike- I generally agree, but Virtuous isn’t an evil Ticketmaster clone. 10% of their profits go to local food banks and they are a locally owned entity. From an organizer’s perspective, they really take care of what can be big headache when trying to manage 500 attendees. We feel that $22 for the whole weekend is still quite a good value considering what other conferences charge for similar fun. Look forward to seeing you here.

The Webzine tickets are on sale now. What is webzine? Here’s a schedule, check it out for yourself. I’ve heard about it mostly from Scott at Laughing Squid, which is more than enough of an endorsement for me to plunk down a measly $20 on a two day ev…
